Asean Launches Tourism Packages E-Book

Bangkok (Thailand) – November 24, 2015 (travelindex) – In keeping with the ASEAN spirit of tourism cooperation and National Blue Ocean Strategy, Malaysia officially launched the ‘ASEAN Tourism Packages’ today. The e-book contains multi-country packages and is available on the ASEAN website (www.aseantourism.travel). This is a collaborative effort among ASEAN National Tourism Organisations (ASEAN NTOs), spearheaded by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia.

“I would like to express my deepest appreciation to all the ASEAN NTOs and travel agents from ASEAN Member States for their support and cooperation in the publication of this online ‘ASEAN Tourism Packages’ book. This is indeed an excellent guide for tourists from ASEAN countries and it will promote the region as a brand in the international market,” said Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism & Culture, Malaysia.

“I believe the ‘ASEAN Tourism Packages’ will benefit the economies of ASEAN and the local communities,” Dato’ Seri Mohamed Nazri added.

The ‘ASEAN Tourism Packages’ contains attractive tours that promote multiple destinations in a single package. Tourists have a choice of visiting the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, enjoying the hospitality of homestay programme, or taking a leisure cruise to enjoy the scenic panoramas offered by this part of the Southeast Asian region.

The packages also complement the GOASEAN 24-hour TV channel, which is broadcasted on satellite network Astro. The channel features the top tourist attractions of each member countries and highlights their shopping, food, local sports, festivals, etc.

Besides promoting ASEAN as a single tourism destination, the e-book also aims to promote a sense of culture among regional and international tourists.
