Thai Airways Sponsors TBEX Asia 2015

Bangkok (Thailand) – October 15, 2015 (travelindex) – Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), The SUPPORT Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (Public Organization), and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration held a joint press conference in support of the Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX) Asia 2015 that is taking place during 15-17 October 2015 at Queen Sirikit Convention Center and is being held for the first time in Asia with Thailand as the host country.

Mr. Chutintorn Srisittikum, Acting Vice President, e-Commerce and Ancillary Marketing Department, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, said that the Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX) Asia 2015 was organized to bring together approximately 1,000 of the most well-known international online bloggers for the purpose of promoting Thailand, its products and services, as well as destinations served by THAI through online media channels. THAI, as the national carrier, is ready to support efforts to boost the national economy in all areas through tourism or support of public and private sectors so that the country may be selected as a world class event destination as the “first gateway.” Furthermore, the country hopes to boost MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) travel, as survey results show that conference and exhibition organizers tend to select the services of the national carrier, which is an area that THAI gains the most benefit as THAI has sales offices across the world that are able to reach corporate clients. Currently, THAI is cooperating with TCEB to serve MICE markets in China, India, and Southeast Asia. THAI also has a network through Star Alliance which is made up of 28 airlines with access to 1,330 airports. THAI is confident that together with TCEB and TAT, Thailand will be selected as the location where international conferences will be held, which supports Thailand as the meeting destination in Asia.

Digital technology is currently rapidly changing and advancing in development, and THAI places importance on developing its website and uses social media in its marketing and customer-related communications. The Company’s Facebook fanpage, through Talk with THAI, makes customer communication possible 24- hours a day and staff are on hand to answer customer questions regularly. THAI uses social media channels to inform customers about flight changes or cancellations. The Company has made developments to its website www.thaiairways.com for quick and easy customer access, reservation and various payment options such as by credit card or debit card, counter service at Tesco Lotus, Big C, post offices, and other places, making it easier for customers. THAI recently introduces its social website social.thaiairways.com, which supports the main website www.thaiairways.com, with the objective of promoting and sharing travel experiences by providing information on tourist destinations, travel tips, products as well as shopping and dining information, with corporate news and information, all of which is updated regularly. In addition, information is provided on how to get from airports into the city at domestic as well as international destinations that are served by THAI. Well-known bloggers are invited to share information and their travel experiences on this social website.

This year TBEX meeting offers online social media the opportunity to bring interesting information to the public through a medium that is easy to access and boost travel amongst customers worldwide. Bloggers from all over the world gathered together at the Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX) Asia 2015 to network and had good experiences on Thai tourism and culture, which will be communicated to the public to promote tourism to Thailand.
